O’Dea Tennis

The O’Dea High School Tennis Team competes in the spring as part of the highly competitive Metro League, which boasts a history of sourcing State Champions.

The Fighting Irish compete in the following matches:

  • 2 boys singles
  • 3 boys doubles

The team that wins at least 3 of the 5 matches during a head-to-head match-up is deemed the winner of the competition!

The tennis schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather.

Coach's Corner

O’Dea Tennis is coached by Jennifer Friedrich Wood. A graduate of Forest Ridge and sister to an O’Dea alum, Coach Jen grew up on Bainbridge Island, where fitness and tennis were always central to her life. As a player on the island, at Forest Ridge, through Mark Frisby Tennis Academy, and as a lifelong USTA competitive player, Jen has carried her passion for tennis into coaching and building a strong racquet sports community.

Coach Jen has an extensive background in fundraising, development, and youth advocacy, having served as the Executive Director of the Bainbridge Island Boys & Girls Club. She is currently raising three daughters–two of whom attend and play tennis at Bishop Blanchet, and one who attends UC Santa Barbara.

She is a Certified PTR and PPR instructor. She has coached at multiple levels, assisting Garfield High School’s tennis team in 2022 and Bishop Blanchet’s varsity team in 2023. She developed the pickleball program at Eastside Tennis Center, where she also taught tennis and pickleball. She currently coaches the exploratory pickleball program at St. Joseph School, helping to grow the sport among young players. Her classes have grown exponentially, fueled by her love for teaching and her belief that everyone can succeed in racquet sports when they’re having fun.

In the summer, she enjoys coaching and returning to Bainbridge Island, where she runs her business, Frog Rock Pickleball Tours. When not on the court, Jen loves to travel, ski, surf, hike, and go on adventures with her teenagers and close friends, supporting Shirts Across America and running with their black lab, Boomer!
