Congrats to Sam Medeiros ’20 – WIAA Athlete of the Week

Each week throughout the school year the WIAA recognizes varsity athletes, from each of  six classifications, who exhibited an outstanding performance for the previous week. The WIAA selected Freshman Sam Medeiros ’20 for his performance in a Metro League golf match vs. West Seattle on Oct 12th.  Sam shot a noteworthy 4 over 41 for the Irish! He is a first-rate teammate on the golf team, a terrific member of the O’Dea student body maintaining a 3.50 GPA, and he consistently conducts himself as an O’Dea gentleman.  Congratulations, Sam!

Coach Kohler Named Seahawks Coach of the Week

Congratulations to Coach Kohler on being named the Seahawks Coach of the Week.  Down 17-7 at half, O’Dea rallied to defeat two-time defending 3-A State Champion Eastside Catholic 20-17 in a Metro thriller. The victory ended the Crusaders 32 game in-State winning streak and gives O’Dea the inside track to a Metro Mountain division title.

Monte Kohler Presented with the Memorial Classic Icon Award

On Friday, September 9th, Head Coach, Monte Kohler, was presented with the Memorial Classic Icon Award for his long and distinguished career coaching high school football in the greater Seattle area. He also logged his 300th win as a Head Football Coach, ranking him 3rd in the state for most career wins.

Doug Russell ’17 named NW Catholic Student of the Month

Congratulations to senior, Doug Russell, on being named September 2016 NW Catholic Student of the Month.

An all-state defensive tackle for O’Dea’s football team, Douglas is “a true and authentic leader,” said nominator John O’Neill. “He displays a genuine spirit of empowerment for his classmates and teammates.” Douglas serves as a mentor group leader in O’Dea’s house system and regularly volunteers at campus events. He is also a leader with Skyway Solutions, a community-building organization in the Renton area.
